Businesswoman turns redundancy into award-winning business success

A businesswoman who experienced redundancy six times has turned her own career challenges into a thriving business helping organisations and individuals navigate workplace change.

Warrington Chamber Plus member Deanne “Dee” Walsh founded Dewa Training and Coaching in 2018 after deciding to take control of her future following her sixth redundancy, using nearly two decades of HR experience to launch a consultancy specialising in corporate wellbeing, executive coaching and redundancy support.
A lifelong North West resident, Dee spent 15 years working in HR roles across media and technology SMEs in Manchester, Cheshire and Liverpool before starting her own business.
Since launching Dewa, she has delivered mental health and wellbeing training to more than 2,000 people across the UK, while supporting businesses and individuals through periods of change.
Her specialist redundancy coaching is built on both professional expertise and personal experience, having been through two site closures, a relocation, a company closure and two restructures herself, as well as leading multiple redundancy programmes during her HR career.
Dee’s work has earned national recognition, with her being named in the BIMA100 2026 and receiving a British Interactive Media Association (BIMA) Award for People & Talent. She has also volunteered with BIMA since 2022, serving as HR Peer Community Lead and Chair of its Wellbeing Steering Group.
Alongside her consultancy work, Dee has delivered training for organisations including The Burnt Chef Project, Chasing the Stigma, Drinkaware and Mind.
She is now launching a dedicated redundancy coaching programme combining one-to-one coaching, group sessions and peer support, designed to help people rebuild confidence and find their next career direction following redundancy or restructuring.
Dee said: “When someone’s world has just been upended by redundancy or restructure, they need more than a CV refresh. They need the confidence, self-awareness and space to figure out what comes next on their own terms.”
